Holiday Hostess Tips
EAT, DRINK, AND BE MERRY!
So you decided to host a holiday party this weekend but with all the crazy holiday hustle and bustle, you haven’t had a moment to plan a thing! Don’t worry; here are some easy yet essential ideas to help you set the festive mood!
Pillows: There are a ton of adorable holiday pillows available this year. Pick your favorites and replace your couch pillows with some festive holiday pillows.
Candles: Candle light is like magic! Dim the lights and light enough candles to create a warm glow. Having a scented candle at the entrance, helps set the holiday environment as soon as guests enter – balsam is one of our favorites. Add a scented candle for the bathroom too!
Using a lot of candles allows you to go easy on the flowers. Adorn your mantle with a garland, light your fireplace and hang a wreath on the front door. Voila! Done and perfect!
Specialty Cocktails: Spiked cider, hot chocolate with a side of liquor, or even a champagne cocktail – are all easy to prepare in a pitcher or urn and make in advance. If you aren’t hiring a bartender, set up a bar station with glasses, holiday themed stirrers and cocktail napkins so guests can help themselves.
Desserts: S’mores! Whether you use a real fire pit outside or set-up inside using burners, these will for sure be a hit!
Entertainment: Create an iPod playlist and have silent holiday movies playing in the background. Elf is one of our favorites, even without the sound. If you know your friends and family will participate, create a late night karaoke lounge for fun that will last well into the evening. Small karaoke systems are a relatively small investment and easy to find. Check out Best Buy, Amazon or other electronic stores near you.
Gifts: Create a photo table with holiday Polaroid frames and a Polaroid camera and have your guests take a selfie or group photo. Your guests can then insert their photo into one of the frames as their memento of the evening.
If you want to add a personal touch, make a batch of your favorite baked goods and wrap them in holiday boxes with the recipe!
