Special Occasions Event Planning is a finalist in the 2013 BizBash Style Awards. The Adobe Max Bash is nominated in two categories: Best Corporate Event Concept (Budget over $50,000) and Best Catering at an Event. Being nominated in two categories is such an honor especially as this is one of the events we are most proud of!
Adobe Max Bash is the official after party of a 4-day conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Every year, the Adobe Max Conference has a theme and this year it was “The Creativity Conference”. Special Occasions created a Max Bash Street Market that that hosted over 5,000 attendees and explored the creativity theme within every performance, food presentation, and activity.
Everything in the event must be a visually interesting experience since the attendees are visionaries, developers, and creative thinkers that like to push the envelope. Having produced this event three years in the row, our client expects that Max Bash be different than the last year and that we continually raise the bar.
Not only did Special Occasions transform the parking lots into a unique street market environment, but we also ensured that the entire event remained a surprise during the four day installation. Our client wanted a wow factor at the entrance as guests entered and we accomplished that with a hip-hop violinist musical performance and giant bulb letters that read “Max Bash”.
An international style of street fare was available to guests to dine, from “A Taste of India”, “Art of Shabu of Shabu”, to our personal favorite, “All About the Pig”. The food tents were an absolute hit with guests who arrived with an appetite after being on the conference floor all day.
A large 100’ x 80’ tent hosted Dessert Wonderland which included a liquid nitrogen station and ice cream floats poured through ice luges, not to mention all the other treats such as milk and cookies, doughnuts, and macaroons. Guest could enjoy their desserts and sip their ice cream floats on the 50’s style diner tables or in the lounge that oversaw the entire dessert station as well as the retro photo booth.
Guests then made their way into the event where a round circular bar with performers suspended overhead assisted bartenders with passing cocktails and napkins to guests and squeezing a lime or two.
The entertainment and activities had to be spectacular as our client must always raise the bar from the year before. Two 50’ high truss structures with a 200’ zip lines connecting them together allowed for an amazing cirque performances all night long. From drummers, to silk performers, to the grand finale of an oversize piñata that sprinkled guests with confetti, there was always something to look at including a second performance by the hip-hop violinist on the 30’ high on the truss structure.
To continue the theme of the event, “Celebrating Creativity”, an oversize Lite Brite wall, and a graffiti wall, designed to replicate a street billboard, were activities in which guests could indulge in their creative spirit and play with designs and art. A sand artist commemorated the conference’s keynote speakers and theme with storytelling through sand atop a light box that was projected onto the dessert tent.
Ending the night was a much anticipated performance by Grammy award winning, Black Keys. The hour and a half performance was the perfect ending to the 2013 Max Bash!
