Hacienda Trip on the Yucatan Peninsula
Most of us are inspired by our everyday experiences however, there is nothing quite like being inspired by travelling. Especially when your travels lead you to four of Mexico’s oldest and most unique haciendas in the Yucatan Peninsula.
First stop, Hacienda Temozon; the bold color contrasts throughout the entire hacienda was amazing. Hacienda Temozon was originally an agave plantation which produced fiber to make rope and twine. After a quick dip in the pool and a late breakfast we were off to our next discovery.
Hacienda Santa Rosa is nestled in the middle of a very small town. We arrived in the early evening and sat on the hacienda’s porch to enjoy a night cap and conversation with locals. It truly felt like we had gone back in time! During our stay, we had the opportunity to visit one of the village’s local jewelry making shops. Of course, we couldn’t stop ourselves from doing a little shopping!
The workshop with the jewelry making tools!
Another highlight . . . this little girl that wandered onto our patio at 2am. We were too nervous to leave him out, so she slept in a towel basket in our room all night. We brought her with us to breakfast where we found out that it was a little girl’s best friend who accidently got out in the middle of the night. We miss Panterita!Next stop, Hacienda Puerta Campeche. This hacienda was a bit different because it was located in the middle of a “bigger” city. You could walk to a nearby restaurant or my favorite, have a late night cup of rich and creamy hot chocolate. One thing that Puerta Campeche had in common with the other haciendas, was their one-of-a-kind pool setting where you can meander through secret alcoves and open windows.
Last but certainly not least, our favorite…Hacienda Uayamon. Everywhere you looked you were truly inspired by the romantic setting of the overgrown ruins with modern little touches. From our suite located in what was once the hacienda’s hospital; to dinner underneath a beautiful stone archway (which we thought would also be a perfect setting for a ceremony!). Lastly, the spa located inside one of the oldest buildings of the hacienda. This hacienda wouldn’t be complete without the signature unique pool! What was once a room in the main building is now Uayamon’s swimming pool, with crumbling, roofless stone walls and topless pillars.. We can’t wait to go back and create an amazing event for one of our adventurous clients!
